The eighth issue of the annual World's Wildlife Series is dedicated to the Shark (Selachimorpha). The motive of the small coin struck from 0.5 grams of gold depicts a hammerhead shark in a side perspective swimming through an underwater landscape. Its characteristic hammer-shaped head is prominently highlighted, while stylized corals and aquatic plants can be seen in the background. The inscriptions "THE SHARK" and "WORLD'S WILDLIFE" outline the design. The reverse features the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as the weight, fineness, denomination and year of issue.

Sharks are a group of cartilaginous fish that have inhabited the oceans for over 400 million years. They are characterized by their streamlined bodies, multiple rows of sharp teeth, and highly developed senses of smell and electroreception. As important predators, they play a central role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems. The limited 0,5 gram gold proof coin is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
